As first fix approached, we were engaged to specify the lighting for the new spaces, including an open plan kitchen diner. Downlights and dimmers on several separate circuits allowed for flexibility in a multi-use space. Using a pendant above the kitchen table looks good but only if you never intend on moving the table, so we added sufficient power points for Floor lamps instead. We also specified a simple outdoor scheme, installed as the garden took shape. As the property is mid-terrace, consideration towards neighbours was essential – so low level lighting was used, on more than one circuit, to increase flexibility.
